Building Maintenance Assistant

The AES Building management team is seeking the right person to join our small team as we care for our tenants, their guests, and the AES Campus (their business home).  Our goal is to provide a “Class A” work environment for our tenants as one of the premiere buildings in downtown Akron.

Qualifications

    1. This person must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently and have a minimum of a high school diploma, or its equivalent.
    2. Working knowledge of HVAC Systems, plumbing, electrical and lighting systems, and painting and drywall repairs
    3. Ability to work alone without minute-by-minute supervision to efficiently accomplish tasks.
    4. Can lift 50 pounds

Areas of Responsibility

This position is responsible for the total operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of all functional systems within the building. These shall include but not be limited to:

 

    • Perform all tasks as directed by the Lead Maintenance Mechanic or Building Manager.
    • Assist maintenance mechanic in performing maintenance and repair work on building equipment and facilities as directed.
    • Install and repair/replace light bulbs, ballasts, drivers, 120-volt electrical outlets, and light switches as necessary on both the interior and exterior of the building.
    • Assist in cleaning and maintaining the maintenance shop, mechanical rooms, and miscellaneous building storage areas.
    • Repair and maintain all door hardware such as door closures, hinges, locksets, strikes, sweeps, and hold-opens and stops.
    • Perform light preventative maintenance work on mechanical equipment and other building equipment as directed.
    • Perform small office moves.
    • Perform other duties and functions as follows, but not limited to:
    • Filter changing
    • Light plumbing repairs
    • Minor electrical repairs
    • Answer service calls
    • Make deliveries or perform errands as directed.
    • Snow and ice removal
    • Respond to emergency situations on a 24-hour basis.
    • Know (and practice) proper safety practices.
    • Know proper procedures during emergency situations.
    • Be able to implement changes at management’s direction.

 Compensation

            • Hourly wage = $18 – $22 depending on experience and training required.  Bi-weekly direct deposit.
